…

――――Two days after Suda issued his statement. A second monster appearance was observed in Ikebukuro, within Tokyo. The government had issued a request for the public to refrain from non-essential outings, but it wasn’t possible for everyone to follow that. There were many people who had to go outside for work and other obligations.

“……They’re here, huh.”
I had been waiting at the Ministry of Monster Control for reports of monster appearances. The moment I received the information, I immediately sprang into action and boarded the vehicle that had been prepared for me.

“I’ll be in your care today.”
“The pleasure is all mine! It is an honor to work with Tanaka-dono!”

After exchanging greetings with the pilot, I boarded it. Well, even though I say “boarded,” there was no seat; I merely hopped on top of it.

“Whoa.”

The craft I was riding began to move, and the airframe rocked gently. It smoothly floated straight upward; it felt almost like riding an actual UFO.

“Oops, I have to turn on the stream. Attach the selfie stick, and…”

I mounted my smartphone to the selfie stick and started the broadcast. Immediately, viewers flooded in all at once.

「Hm?」
「Wait, what?!」
「He’s actually streaming!」
「Kon-shachiku!(Tl: Hi, Coporate Slave)」
「Why are you streaming right now?!」
「Is that outside?」
「Is this really the time for a dungeon stream?!」
「Monsters are appearing in the city, you know?!」
「This is honestly inapporiate」
「Flaming is unavoidable」

Hmm, the comments were rowdier than usual. Well, that was only natural. If someone was doing a dungeon stream during such a major crisis, it was only to be expected that people would frown upon it. Besides, the perpetrator, Suda, had called me out by name. Since I was directly involved in this incident, all the more so.

“Hello everyone, I’m Tanaka Makoto. Thank you for joining today.”

Even while I was offering my greeting, the craft I was riding continued to climb higher and higher.

“This is not our usual dungeon stream today. As you all know, my former boss, Suda Akihiro, is currently committing acts of indiscriminate destruction using monsters. I am deeply sorry for all the trouble and anxiety Suda has caused so many people.”

「Hm? It’s not a dungeon stream?」
「Then what is it?」
「Wait, is he flying through the air?」
「Tanaka! Do something about that piece of trash!」 「Anyone can just offer an apology, you know」
「Take responsibility! Responsibility!」
「No, it’s not like Shachiken is at fault here…」
「We’ve got some unusually lively antis today, don’t we?」

“Suda named me specifically and said he would have his ‘revenge.’ His words are selfish, irrational, and not even worth listening to. However… I have decided to take him up on that ‘fight.’”

「?!」
「Wait, what?!」
「Seriously?」
「It’s an all-out war!」
「Hype moment incoming!」
「T H I N G S A R E G E T T I N G H Y P E」
「Suda’s instant death is unavoidable」
「Now that’s what I’m talking about!」
「Y-Yeah right, nice try」
「H-He’s just all talk anyway, right?」
「Antis crying right now lololol」

I adjusted the selfie stick to capture what I was riding on camera. It was a fighter jet with a black, triangular airframe. This was the very machine I had pleaded with Dojima-san and Gonda-san to borrow.

「What is this?!」
「An airplane?」
「No, that’s a stealth aircraft!」
「Cool!」
「I’ve never seen an aircraft like that before」
「Isn’t that the cutting-edge craft the Magic Research Bureau was developing?! It’s finished?!」
「Wait, why is he sitting cross-legged on top of a stealth jet? Lol」
「Answer: Because he’s Shachiken」

The fighter craft I was riding was the state-of-the-art stealth aircraft Tsukikage, jointly developed by the Magic Research Bureau and the Ministry of Defense. Powered by a cutting-edge magic engine, its speed, fuel efficiency, stealth capabilities, and maneuverability far surpassed any conventional stealth aircraft. Its armor was crafted using materials derived from dungeons, making it exceptionally sturdy. It could easily withstand attacks from monsters of a certain caliber. And most impressive of all was its stealth capability. Just like typical stealth aircraft, it was naturally difficult to detect on radar, but it was also designed so as not to trigger magicule detection. Thanks to that, it could travel without being detected by monsters.
It possessed various other functions as well, boasting performance more than sufficient to hold its own against monsters.

“I borrowed this stealth aircraft, Tsukikage, for transportation today. The Tsukikage can rush to any location within Tokyo in just one minute. No matter where monsters appear, I will immediately arrive on the scene to exterminate them. Please rest assured.”

「Are you serious?!」
「As expected of Shachiken!」
「We won, I’m going to the restroom」
「Suda crying right now lol」
「Time to play the victory BGM」
「Uwoooooh!」
「Even the anti-kun has no choice but to do his signature flip-flop at this lol」
「Suda! Just give up already!」(Tl: Lmao GG WP)

“I’ve also received word that monsters have appeared in Ikebukuro. That is why I am currently head—oof!”

The stealth aircraft Tsukikage suddenly accelerated, cutting off my words mid-sentence. What ridiculous speed. The wind pressure felt like it was warping my face in bizarre ways.

「Sooooo fast!」
「What a great taxi」
「Why isn’t he falling off when he’s literally just sitting cross-legged up there?」
「Laws of Physics: ‘I’ve given up’」
「Don’t give up (´;ω;`)」
「Is that the Flying Nimbus?」
「Can you only ride that if you have the heart of a corporate slave?」
「I was wondering why he wasn’t using a drone, but this is why!」
「Yeah, no way a drone could keep up with that lol」(Tl: This comments are so hilarious)

『……We are nearing the target location. Shall we land?』

The pilot’s voice came through the communications device attached to my ear. That was fast. We’re already here? Sprinting at full speed on the ground carried the risk of wrecking the city, so having an aerial transport like this was an enormous help. I really have to thank Dojima-san and Gonda-san.

“No, there is no need to land. Just decelerate, and I’ll jump off on my own.”
『……Understood. I wish you the best of luck.』

Upon arriving in the skies above Ikebukuro, the Tsukikage decelerated. I peered down at the ground from the sky and visually pinpointed the location where the monsters had appeared.

“Mm, down there, huh.”

「How can he even see that?!」
「His eyesight must be like 30.0 in both eyes」
「The Maasai: ‘That’s terrifying, I’m backing off…‘」(Tl: Okay so this is something, apparently, the Maasai were known for exceptional eyesight in pop culture and stories)
「With corporate slave eyes, you get super vision」
「Wait, he doesn’t seem to have a parachute, so how is he dropping down?」
「Ah」
「Wait, could it be…?」

Having reached the target location, I pulled my drone from my pocket and activated it. Then, switching the stream camera from my smartphone to the drone, I rolled off the top of the Tsukikage and flung myself into the open air.

「He fell!」
「Eeeeeek!」
「That stomach-drop feeling is too real lol」
「Don’t just jump off all of a sudden!」
「Bad for my heart…」
「I’m terrible with heights… urgh」
「I took my motion sickness meds, so I’m completely prepared」
「Me too」
「Same here」
「Common sense at this point, right?」
「There are so many well-trained viewers here… lol」

I checked the comments while falling, and things were getting quite lively. With this, Suda was sure to be watching as well.
Yes, that was my exact objective in streaming today. If I streamed, Suda’s attention would be directed entirely at me. That would reduce the chances of harm coming to anyone else. Moreover, if I threw out some provocative words, the chances of him showing himself would increase as well. This was a fight between me and him; I didn’t want any collateral damage.

『Gyuaaaaa!!』

While lost in thought, a terrifying roar reached my ears from below. Looking in that direction, there was a red-scaled flying dragon—a Red Wyvern.

『Gaah!』

The Red Wyvern opened its gaping maw wide, attempting to swallow me whole. The Red Wyvern was an A-rank monster; for a high-ranking monster to appear on the surface meant the situation was far more severe than anticipated.

“It looks like I’d better hurry.”

While still in freefall, I readied my sword and unleashed an iai strike.

『Ga…?!』

Clink. Along with the crisp sound of the sword sliding back into its scabbard, the Red Wyvern was severed cleanly down the middle. With the obstacle removed, I kicked the empty air several times to decelerate and touched down onto the ground. When I did, the monsters that had been running rampant up until that moment turned their gazes toward me.

『Ruru…』
『Gyau!!』

Having spotted fresh prey, the monsters let out excited cries. Watching them, I placed my hand on the sword at my waist.

“Now then, it’s time for business…!”
