Elizabeth Williams is a 16-year-old Third-year high school student and Nick’s best friend since childhood. They were so close and did basically everything together for the better part of their childhood. They would usually meet up at his house and play throughout the day. He started becoming distant when his parents died. Though it wasn’t unexpected, she still tried her best. She’d visit him at his uncle’s place, and spent a lot of time and effort keeping their friendship. At this point, they were nearly inseparable – or at least that’s how it was supposed to be, but without a doubt, they were nowhere as close as they were in the years before. She could still do as much as tell if something was on his mind, she was still the closest friend he had, but the distance between them had been growing. He was getting more distant as the days went by.

“What are you talking about?　Hoshino is in college now and wants to join a big guild when she graduates, right?　There’s no way she’s going to join a weak guild that hasn’t even gotten off the ground yet.”
“That was certainly my intention. But now my biggest dream is different. I want to work withTanaka-san!　Tanaka-san is the person I admire. So please, please, please!”
　Hoshino bowed her head and put her heart and soul into it.
　The word “admire” in this case means not as a person of the opposite sex, but as an explorer. I didn’t think she adored me this much. I was surprised.
　I’m honestly happy to hear that. However, Hoshino is a young person with a future, and I can’t just accept her like Adachi did. It would be fine if she chose to join my guild after experiencing other guilds, but I wondered if it would be a good idea for her to join my guild from the very beginning.

　I was surprised out loud at his sudden coming out.
　The company he works for is supposed to be one of the biggest and best companies out there. Unlike the Black Dog Black Dog Guild, there is little overtime, good pay, and a low turnover rate.
　Besides, Adachi has a family. He has a beautiful wife and a lovely daughter. It’s a picture-perfect family.
　I can’t believe he would quit his job.
“I can’t believe that you, who are so smart, would do such a thing. What on earth do you think you’re doing?　Does your wife know about this?”
Don’t look so frightened, Tanaka. I didn’t do it without thinking, and I told my wife about it.

　Adachi’s unexpected words startled and confused me.
　It’s true that I had heard that we might corporatize before. I heard it would be better from a tax standpoint.
　I’m not familiar with those things, so I left it up to Adachi and tried not to interfere…… but if I were to become the president, that would be a different story. I couldn’t just shake my head and say, “Yes?”
“I’m not sure what you’re surprised about. There are only two employees at the moment, me and Tanaka. I’m not the one who should be president, am I?”

Throughout school the next day, Nick could not but think about the experience he had the day before. He had just got to learn the kind of life his father had lived. And that his father was an active practitioner of magic. It didn’t even sound realistic in the slightest, but he had gotten first-hand experience and had no choice but to believe that it was the truth. And now, he had been given the learn magic just like his dad did.
The day seemed exceptionally long as he waited long in anticipation for the final bell, that’d signify the end of school for the day. When the bell finally rang, he hurriedly packed up his things and left the classroom. He walked out of school and straight to his old house.
Upon entering the house, he made his way straight to the study, and but the doorknob he had been given on the study door. A slight flash of light came out of the edges of the knob
